Pre-camp Mock Draft – Rounds 4-6
Round 4
| Pick | Team | Player | Position | Team | OTA Mock | Pre-draft Mock | Mid-winter Mock |
| 31 | Team 10 | Thomas Jones | RB | NYJ | 50 | 43 | 29 |
| 32 | Team 9 | Reggie Wayne | WR | IND | 23 | 24 | 26 |
| 33 | Team 8 | Aaron Rodgers | QB | GB | 34 | 42 | |
| 34 | Team 7 | Wes Welker | WR | NE | 35 | 36 | 36 |
| 35 | Team 6 | Terrell Owens | WR | BUF | 36 | 38 | |
| 36 | Team 5 | Philip Rivers | QB | SD | 39 | 40 | 30 |
| 37 | Team 4 | Derrick Ward | RB | TB | 38 | 50 | |
| 38 | Team 3 | Marques Colston | WR | NO | 43 | 35 | 39 |
| 39 | Team 2 | Vincent Jackson | WR | SD | 52 | 97 | |
| 40 | Team 1 | Peyton Manning | QB | IND | 24 | 17 | 17 |
Team 9 grabs its first receiver and does pretty well, considering Reggie Wayne was a 2nd round pick last year and a 3rd round pick in all of our previous mocks. Aaron Rodgers is the third quarterback off the board at pick 33. As you’ve seen from our other posts, we think Rodgers will be a top 3 QB again this year, and it wouldn’t be crazy to draft him as early as the third round if you want to make sure he’s on your roster. Team 3 picks up its first receiver after going RB/RB/RB, and also does well with Marques Colston. Then we finally see Peyton Manning go off the board as the fifth quarterback. Other key points in this round include Wes Welker’s grasp on the middle of the fourth round in all of our mocks. He is always closely followed by Terrell Owens, which seems strange when you consider the careers of those two players. Also of note is the dramatic rise of Vincent Jackson. I picked him a lot earlier this time around because the pickings at receiver were getting quite thin and I expected team 1 to take a receiver at the turn.
Round 5
| Pick | Team | Player | Position | Team | OTA Mock | Pre-draft Mock | Mid-winter Mock |
| 41 | Team 1 | Jason Witten | TE | DAL | 37 | 41 | |
| 42 | Team 2 | Donovan McNabb | QB | PHI | 63 | 73 | |
| 43 | Team 3 | Kurt Warner | QB | ARI | 46 | 34 | |
| 44 | Team 4 | Tony Gonzalez | TE | ATL | 32 | 37 | |
| 45 | Team 5 | Antonio Gates | TE | SD | 42 | 46 | |
| 46 | Team 6 | Roy Williams | WR | DAL | 58 | 71 | |
| 47 | Team 7 | Brandon Marshall | WR | DEN | 44 | 27 | 21 |
| 48 | Team 8 | T.J. Houshmandzadeh | WR | SEA | 45 | 47 | |
| 49 | Team 9 | Dallas Clark | TE | IND | 40 | 54 | |
| 50 | Team 10 | Braylon Edwards | WR | CLE | 60 | 55 |
This round was dominated by pass catchers, with 8 of the 10 picks being receivers or tight ends. It also saw Donovan McNabb continue to climb up the draft board as he was taken ahead of Kurt Warner. That doesn’t feel right, but the old man has to slow down soon, right? Roy Williams also continues to move up, climbing from the 8th round to the 6th round to the middle of the 5th. I wouldn’t buy him there, but someone will. Brandon Marshall seems to have found a home in the mid-5th, too, now that we’ve fully digested his QB change. Now, if his trade request is granted we’ll have to recalibrate again.
Round 6
| Pick | Team | Player | Position | Team | OTA Mock | Pre-draft Mock | Mid-winter Mock |
| 51 | Team 10 | Knowshon Moreno | RB | DEN | 30 | 67 | 40 |
| 52 | Team 9 | Anthony Gonzalez | WR | IND | 59 | 75 | |
| 53 | Team 8 | Marshawn Lynch | RB | BUF | 54 | 39 | 15 |
| 54 | Team 7 | Jonathan Stewart | RB | CAR | 78 | 93 | |
| 55 | Team 6 | Tony Romo | QB | DAL | 41 | 26 | 33 |
| 56 | Team 5 | Kevin Walter | WR | HOU | 62 | 52 | |
| 57 | Team 4 | Reggie Bush | RB | NO | 56 | 51 | |
| 58 | Team 3 | Bernard Berrian | WR | MIN | 67 | 57 | |
| 59 | Team 2 | Willie Parker | RB | PIT | 57 | 44 | 31 |
| 60 | Team 1 | Larry Johnson | RB | KC | 61 | 63 |
Knowshon Moreno takes a tumble back to the sixth round this time. It’s really hard to gauge what’s happening in Denver, so Moreno could go anywhere from the fourth to the seventh round. Team 9 picked up a 3rd consecutive Colts player, which we’ll talk about more in the team Q&A at the end of the mock. Noticeable trends in this round include the leveling off of Marshawn’s value as a sixth rounder. He went in the second round of our first mock and quickly dropped after his off-field issues led to a 3-game suspension. Jonathan Stewart, on the other hand, has been rising from the 10th round to the 8th to the 6th. While DeAngelo Williams is staying put in the early second round, we apparently feel that Stewart will have more of a role than we thought three months ago. The next pick, Tony Romo, has been dropping steadily. Back when he had Terrell Owens I thought he’d be a contender to be a top 3 QB. Now that he has only Jason Witten and Roy Williams, I’m less sure of his potential. However, I’m certain he’ll be a top 10 QB and he should go in rounds five through seven. Finally, Willie Parker is another dropper. He made our four-round mock back in January but barely cracked the sixth round today. We just don’t think he has a lot of value left, and you can do better. He might make a decent flex player, but he’s not worth much more than this sixth round pick.
